Hurghada history
Hurghada is one of the cities located in the Red Sea Governorate on the Red Sea coast. The town was founded in the early 20th century, and until recently it was a small fishing village with a small population. Since the nineteenth century, it has been continually expanded by Egyptian and foreign investors to become the leading seaside resort on the Red Sea. Oil was discovered in the area in 1913, but actual production and export only started in 1921 under the British oil tycoon.

During the reign of King Farouk, who ruled before the 1952 revolution, an entertainment center was built in the city. After President Nasser nationalized Egyptian Industries, the place was handed over to the Armed Forces.
